When it comes to Marketing your business, a lot of people seem to
think that there is a huge cost involved, however, this is not
necessarily the case. As long as you have the time, marketing can be
done without any cost at all.
Those who run their business from home are always looking for ways to
market what they provide, often using methods that are either very low
cost, or with no cost at all.
Before you do begin to market however, it is important that you
choose the correct keywords for your business, this can be done both, in
your head, and by checking out what your competitors are using. Once
these keywords have been chosen you will firstly need to optimize your
own site, this is often known as a process called SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
There is a way of advertising your site known as PPC (pay per click)
and it can be very useful for those who know what they are doing.
However, if you are new to the internet world, I do not advise using it
as it can lead to you spending loads of money and not gaining anything
back.
When it comes to low or no cost internet marketing, there are four
main ways that you can use to advertise your website, bear in mind
however, that consistency is very important and you need to stick by
strict dates and times.
Article Marketing
Article marketing can be a very good way of both getting people
interested in the services you provide and gaining those all important
backlinks. There are websites out there known as “article directories”
and if you are able to write your own article(s) and submit them
personally, there will be absolutely no cost. If you aim to write around
4-5 articles a month, the backlinks you receive should really boost
your rankings for your chosen keywords.
A word of caution however, make sure to change the keyword you link with, as this looks much more natural to search engines.
Forum Marketing
This is a pretty simple step, all you need to do is join a few different
industry relevant forums and keep your eye out for anything that you
are able to answer or reply too. All you have to do is make sure that
your web address is within the signature on your profile. Make sure that
when you get involved in conversations you are actually interested in
whats being said and feel like your making a meaningful contribution.
When it comes to the amount of times that you should post, I recommend
trying to post at least three to four times a day.
Social Media
A large amount of people nowadays are using social media and the
potential outreach you could achieve is massive, websites such as
Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus really allow for that extra exposure
on your website. Remember that you are able to create a business page
which is completely separate from your personal page, but can be
accessed from your personal profile.
Blog Commenting
Blog commenting can be a great way of gaining exposure to your website,
you don’t even need to sign up. You simply need to find a website which
contains a blog and leave a comment with your websites link. It is
often best to find a blog which is related to the industry in which you
work, as your comment can be marked as spam and deleted. One last
helpful tip about blog commenting is to make sure that when you do
comment, the comment is legitimate and actually contributes to the post.
