Yahoo announced
they are changing their logo on September 4th at 9pm PT or midnight of
September 5th. The change is a result of Marissa Mayer taking over the
company and making huge changes throughout the organization, culture and
via acquisitions.
Kathy Savitt, Chief Marketing Officer at Yahoo said:
Over
the past year, there’s been a renewed sense of purpose and progress at
Yahoo!, and we want everything we do to reflect this spirit of
innovation. While the company is rapidly evolving, our logo — the
essence of our brand — should too.
So over the
next thirty days, Yahoo is changing their logo on their home page and
then placing the final logo on September 4th at 9pm PT or midnight of
September 5th.
Here are day one and two logos:

Some
are nervous that a major logo change will result in what many other
companies have tried to do and had to revert back to. Such as Tropicana
and J.C. Penney and others.
